Deutsche Bank in Belgium won’t fund biomass power plants without long-term contracts

In Belgium, Deutsche Bank has said it won’t fund biomass power plants unless they have long-term offtake contracts locked in. When analyzing projects, banks will look at feedstock supply, storage and logistics, conversion to energy, construction risks and energy sales contracts. Before moving forward, they want to see at least four of them adequately covered.

8.4 MW CHP project in Belgium awarded to Metso by 4HamCogen

In Belgium, Metso announced that it will construct an 8.4 MW combined heat and power plant for 4HamCogen. The plant will be constructed in the province of Limburg, and will also supply up to 14 MW of heat.

The plant is expected to open power in Q2 2011 and use will use non-contaminated biomass.
