Malaysia releases feed-in tariff rates for renewable energy
In Malaysia, the Ministry of Energy has released its 2011 feed-in tariff rates for renewable energy. Depending on the size of installation, in 10MW increments through 30MW, the rates range between 6.6 and 7.6 cents plus bonuses for gasification, steam generation efficiency, and use of municipal solid waste.

Enviva acquires CKS Energy in wood pellet consolidation

FirstEnergy seeks OK to co-fire 80% wood pellets at Ohio power plant
In Ohio, FirstEnergy is seeking state approval to burn up to 80% wood pellets co-fired with coal at one of its smaller power plants. Environmentalists are claiming the project will lead to destruction of the state’s forests.
The switchover would make the 312MW power plant the largest biomass-fired plant in the country.
