Flambeau River Papers moves on biomass-based power, fuels, green wax
In Wisconsin, TruthOut filed an extensive and compelling report about Flambeau River Papers – a mill purchased out of bankruptcy in 2006 and made viable via a switch to “fueling the plant with biomass – mostly mill residues and woody debris left behind after timber harvesting – qualified the business for two million dollars in low-interest government loans and two million dollars in grants to resupply the mill and make repairs for start-up. “
Meanwhile, the company is raising $270 for a Fischer-Tropsch processor to convert 365,000 metric tons per year of woody biomass into renewable diesel fuel and green wax.
